This is because we are targeting many keyphrases based on the fact that we are based in Chicago and want to have clients who are also based in Chicago. So we have chosen many keyphrases beginning with "Chicago" such as "Chicago Web Design" and "Chicago Web Development" and we have placed these keyphrases in large headings which appear to search engines as <h1>Chicago Web Design</h1>, for example. We have also used text instead of images for the links in our left navigation bar so that they are easily read by search engines, and this helps search engines to see that we are linking our pages together with certain targeted keyphrases.

When configuring a site to maximize search engine results, there is always a question of how much or how little you are willing to let your optimization strategy affect the look of your site.
